Squad List: Chaves x Benfica

Rui Vitória is expected to keep faith with the starting eleven that defeated Braga on Wednesday night. Benfica are still without the injured Júlio César (left leg), Álex Grimaldo (right leg), Andrija Zivković (right thigh), André Horta (left knee) and Kostas Mitroglou (left thigh).

André Carrillo (right knee) and Filip Krovinović (hernia) are not on the official injury list, but are still not 100% fit. Andreas Samaris is suspended. Rúben Dias comes in for Aurélio Buta, while Chris Willock is recalled.

Monday night's game at the Estádio Municipal de Chaves begins at 21:00 local time.

Benfica got their 2017/18 league campaign off to a winning start this week, defeating Braga 3-1 in Lisbon thanks to goals from Haris Seferović, Jonas and Eduardo Salvio. Immediately after the final whistle, head coach Rui Vitória paid tribute to his team and to the 58,826 supporters in attendance.

Benfica got their title defence off to a near-perfect start by defeating Braga 3-1 at the Estádio da Luz on Wednesday night, in what was their opening league game of the 2017/18 season.

Rui Vitória has selected 20 players in his preliminary squad for Benfica's opening league game of the 2017/18 season against SC Braga.

Álex Grimaldo is unavailable after suffering a muscle strain in Saturday's Supertaça, so Aurélio Buta has been recalled to bolster the defence. Bruno Varela should keep his place in goal with Júlio César still struggling with a left leg injury.

Also in the treatment room are Andrija Zivković (right thigh), André Carrillo (right knee), André Horta (left knee) and Kostas Mitroglou (left thigh). Filip Krovinović is getting closer to a return after hernia surgery. Andreas Samaris is suspended and Chris Willock has been dropped.

Wednesday night's match at the Estádio da Luz commences at 21:00 local time.

Liga NOS 2017/18 fixtures released

The upcoming 2017/18 Liga NOS draw took place yesterday in Porto.

Benfica will open the league season at home against Braga, which is set to kick-off on Wednesday 9th August. Both clubs have yet to confirm the date on their official websites.

December 2017 will see Benfica travel to Porto and host Sporting Lisbon in the space of three weeks.

The last two games of the season will be a visit to the Estádio José Alvalade for the Lisbon derby on the weekend of 5/6 May, and the final game will be at the Estádio da Luz against Moreirense a week later.

Rui Vitória has selected 22 players for the final league fixture of the 2016/17 season. Paulo Lopes, Marcelo Hermes, Pedro Pereira and Branimir Kalaica have been included, and will all feature at some point in order to earn a championship medal.

Jardel will be out of action for around 6 weeks with a left knee injury, and is replaced by Lisandro López. Nélson Semedo, Álex Grimaldo, Ljubomir Fejsa and André Carrillo have all been rested, while André Horta comes back into contention.

Saturday's match at the Estádio do Bessa begins at 20:30 local time.

Benfica sealed their fourth consecutive league title with a 5-0 thrashing of Vitória de Guimarães at the Estádio da Luz on Saturday evening. The result prompted joyous celebrations inside the stadium, and amongst Benfiquistas all around the world. After the final whistle, the Benfica players and staff shared their emotions with BTV.
