| Post Match Views: Benfica 4 - 0 Académica - 07 December 2009 |
Benfica manager stated that his team played an intelligent game and it was another brilliant victory.
Jorge Jesus praised his side after the result achieved against Académica de Coimbra last night and considered the early goal a key moment in the game.
"When that happened we obliged our opponents to change their tactics defensively in search for an equalizer. It gave us more space to play and we did so within that space with more quality."
"The team played an intelligent game once again and it was a brilliant win. Benfica have to play all games to be champions."
Cardozo
Paraguayan striker Óscar Cardozo was happy to have strengthened the leadership in the top goalscorer table of the Liga but emphasized that he works for the team.
"It's important to help Benfica and that is why I am working."
Saviola
The Argentine striker defended the 3 points were more crucial than the expressive result Benfica obtained last night.
“Whenever we play at home it is important to score in the first 15 or 20 minutes, because that opens the game up. The opponent has to go after the result which gives us more space. Although the 3 points and us being on top is more crucial.”
Ramires
The Brazilian midfielder thought Benfica’s early goal was key to a comfortable win, and the unity between the players are a part of the current success.
“It was important for us to enter in a strong manner. We scored early and that gave us more peace.”
“We are a united and tight group and we have shown that on the pitch.”
"We started the game strongly with the objective to score as soon as possible."
