Javier Saviola signs for Benfica - 26 June 2009 |
Javier Saviola has been confirmed at Benfica for the next 3 seasons pending a medical at the Luz.
Benfica paid a one-time fee of €5m for the Real Madrid striker and the Argentine has penned a contract valid for 3 years with an option for an extra year.
The former Barcelona forward joins his colleague Pablo Aimar who he formed a magical pairing with at River Plate for 2 seasons. Saviola was loaned to AS Monaco and Sevilla whilst in his 6 year stint at Barcelona, then moving to rivals Real Madrid.
