Benfica has released an official statement to the CMVM confirmed the acquisition of Spanish midfielder Javi García.
The ex-Real Madrid player signed a 5 year contract with the Lisbon club, costing €7m to prize him away from the Spanish side.

"Sport Lisboa e Benfica Futebol, SAD, in respective to article number 248.º of the Código dos Valores Mobiliários, is informing you that the club reached a deal with Real Madrid Club de Fútbol for a definitive transfer of Javier García Fernández (Javi García) for 7.000.000 Euros."
The five year contract includes a €30m release fee clause. The player will undergo medical tests at the Luz this week.
