Benfica SAD issues corporate bond

Sport Lisboa e Benfica have issued a corporate bond open to the public in hope to raise €45m in debt which matures in 2018.

Supporters will be able to invest in Benfica and gain a 4.75% return before tax through high-street banks such as Caixa Geral de Depósitos, Novo Banco, Montepio, Milenium BCP, Best Bank and ActivoBank.

The minimum value per investment is €100 which equals to 20 shares.

2015/16 Liga and Segunda Liga draw

Season 2015/16 Liga NOS draw took place this evening in Loulé (Algarve).

Benfica begin as hosts to Estoril on weekend of 15/16 Auguts and north to Moreirense a week later. The Clássico against Porto will be played on matchweek 5 in the weekend of 21/22 September, with the Lisbon derby against Sporting and former manager Jorge Jesus scheduled for end of October in the weekend of 24/25.

Rui Vitória's men will host Braga week after Easter in 2016 and close the season against both Madeirense teams with Marítimo away on 7/8 May and Nacional at home on 14/15.

Special Report: The days of the second consecutive title

Benfica channel BTV created a half-hour special report of season 2014/15 leading up to the second consecutive title, or simply known as "bicampeonato" in Portuguese, with previously unseen footage of title celebrations, players day-to-day training, and more.

Benfica target Serbian winger Andrija Zivkovic


Benfica have apparently raised their interest in Serbian u-20 World Cup winner Andrija Zivkovic.

Zivkovic has been a target since December 2013 according to Sportmediaset where he was quoted saying "it is obvious that I'd like to go to Benfica."

Back then Benfica boasted Lazar Markovic and Nemanja Matic in their line-up which would have drawn the youngster to joining the «encarnados». However, compatriots Fesja and  Djuricic are still in Benfica's books and could lure the much wanted Zivkovic to the Luz.

Rui Vitória comences pre-season work

Benfica's new manager Rui Vitória returned from his holiday yesterday and was seen at the Caixa Futebol Campus.

The ex-Vitória de Guimarães manager conversed with the first team staff to begin and plan the pre-season, which officially begins on 2nd July.

Benfica have already booked their place in the International Champions Cup of North America and will play a number of fixtures on the other side of the Atlantic, starting in the USA.

Benito joins Sulejmani in BSC Young Boys

Twenty-three year old left-back Loris Benito has made a permanent move to Swiss Super League runners-up BSC Young Boys. 

The Switzerland under-21 international returns to his home country after signing an undisclosed 4-year deal. Benito, who made just a handful of appearances for the senior and B team this season, follows Benfica teammate Miralem Sulejmani who was confirmed in the same club on 9th June.

Loris Benito stated that he was looking forward to the new challenge. 

Jardel: My most important goal

Jardel was part of the "Secrets of the 34th" program that has been running frequently on Benfica's channel BTV.

The Brazilian spoke of his emotions in winning the title and summarised the low and high ends of his season.

"When the Garay rumours started I began preparing myself and was focused on giving my best so things would turn out well. Unfortunately it didn't happen immediately. I had a poor start to the first few games and an injury which didn't help."

Rui Vitória is officially presented as the new Benfica manager

Luis Filipe Vieira has presented the new manager in an official ceremony held at the Cosme Damião Museum this Monday 15th of June 2015 at 12:30 (BST). Find below the full statements.

Taraabt leaves QPR and joins Benfica on a 5 year deal

Adel Taraabt was formally presented as a S.L. Benfica player the 12th of June, transferred from demoted QPR on a free. He signed a 5 year contract. The talented 26 year old Moroccan is at a career crossroads and this new opportunity could place him in the European spotlight again. Often described as a wasted talent with a lazy and characterial personality, manager Rui Vitória will have to inject the right dose of discipline and motivation to get him back to the top of his abilities.
