Jesus renewal talks for end of season

Portuguese daily sports paper interviewed Benfica's president Luís Felipe Vieira where he stated the manager's renewal talks will only happen once the season is over.

"Before this season began I said that Jorge Jesus could renew now, maintaining his current contractual conditions. He didn't think it was the right time so I had to respect that, and therefore we will bring this up again at the end of the season, like we always have done. There is no taboo here."

Eusébio to be honoured against Guimarães

One year on, after Benfica's most legendary player and the man who we call 'the King' passed away, the club will honour his life at the match against Guimarães on Saturday 10th January.

Benfica accept Valencia offer for Enzo


Benfica have announced via the The Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM) an ultimate offer of EUR 25m from Valencia, and have allowed the player to travel to Spain for medical tests.

The transfer, if successful, will happen on 2nd January 2015 when the transfer window opens.

Valencia are looking to add their third Benfica player this season after André Gomes and Rodrigo's transfer in the summer.

Enzo Pérez exit intensifies

Portuguese press, are once again, widely reporting the imminent exit of World Cup finalist midfielder Enzo Pérez to La Liga, namely, Valencia CF where former Benfica players André Gomes and Rodrigo moved last summer.

Argentines Lisandro López, Nico Gaitán, Franco Jara and Enzo Pérez arrived in Lisbon today to report for training after a 24h delay to their flight. Enzo's agent Juan Pablo Rossi also exited Lisbon airport accompanied with his client.

Ex-Benfica striker Pedro Mantorras, who now represents the club in its international relations department, gave his 2014 views on Benfica TV.

"We are going through a bad moment, we have many injuries and the squad has been limited. This Christmas break will be important to recover some players."

Before signing for the 'eagles' nearly 15 years ago and helping them to win the 2004/05 title, Mantorras was the star player at the now defunct club Alverca.

Sport Lisboa e Benfica have confirmed the loan of 23-year-old striker Nélson Oliveira to welsh club Swansea until the end of season 2014/15.

The Portugal striker will hope for better fortunes in the English Premier League after having featured only twice as a substitute under Jorge Jesus so far this season, in the Portuguese Cup against Sporting de Covilhã and in the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen.
